RVI, the Robinhood Venture Fund, is unique with exposure to some of the most valuable private technology companies in the world, including OpenAI, SpaceX, Anthropic, Databricks, Mercor, and more.
My thesis is straightforward. I believe we are still early in the AI revolution, and I expect we will continue to see major private companies pursue public listings with huge hype over the coming 18 months. SpaceX demonstrated how investor enthusiasm for elite private companies can drive valuations higher, and I believe similar opportunities could emerge across the rest of the portfolio.
I also believe Robinhood is positioning itself as the future of investing. The company's willingness to launch innovative products and provide retail investors with access to opportunities that were previously reserved for institutions makes me optimistic about the long-term potential of funds like RVI.
I plan to continue buying RVI below $40 per share and view it as a safe way to make a high-risk play into private technology companies.
For now, I'm paying close attention to which companies are added to the fund and which companies ultimately IPO. If holdings grow stale post IPO, and the caliber of companies added to the fund decrease, I will exit the position.
The biggest risks are valuation, volatility, management fees, and concentration within a relatively small number of private companies.
Let's see how it goes!
